Geometry Test 1

I honestly didn't think I would need to write this post, but I just looked at my test grade and I didn't do too well, so here it goes.

What I did to prepare for this first test was complete the study guide. I thought I had it in the bag, but apparently I didn't. I did well on the logic section, though, so it balanced out a bit. What I need to do next time is really review my notes and study no matter how confident I am in the material.

Conditional Statements

I actually loved the conditional statements lesson last week. So here's my go at it.

Original: If Batman's secret identity is revealed. then he won't be Batman anymore.
Inverse (~p-~q): If Batman's secret identity isn't revealed, then he will still be Batman. True
Converse (q-p): If Bruce Wayne isn't Batman anymore, then his secret identity was revealed. False, there are other reasons why he would no longer be Batman.
Contrapositive (~q-~p): If Bruce Wayne is still Batman, then his secret identity wasn't revealed. True.

Why I Like Math

This is going to be a short blog post. I mean, come on, it says right in the title of this blog that I'm a writer. I don't math, I batman. Yes, batman is now a verb. In this case its not used as a proper noun, like Batman, the awesome superhero.

What I like about math is that it presents a simple world. Its no secret that in the world of math there are right and wrong answers. I could even venture to say that in the world of math there are only right and wrong answers. I have a problem and I use a set way of solving that specific problem to solve it. Its pretty straight forward.

In a way, that's what I dislike most about math. It gives us this perfectly clean cut world where everything has a set solution. I like that world, but it doesn't exist.

Now, I'm as romantic as they come, but even I know the world is a beautifully messy place. There are complex moral dilemmas. Sometimes good people do horrible things like betray the people they love the most and sometimes horrible people do good things like feeding the hungry and clothing the homeless. If the world was simple, there would be nothing for me to write about. Or for anyone to write about for that matter. The world would be boring. Simple, clean, and boring.

About Me

I'm a Manual J&C student, and these are my thoughts.
