The use of expected value is clear: logically and rationally making decisions. Its useful in gambling. Applying expected value to odds in Vegas is enough to lose any possible interest one might have to gamble in Vegas. Ever. I know I sure did.
However, there are other applications of expected value other than gambling. In games, for example, using probability to determine possible outcomes is a useful skill to have.

Eerily Similar
Last week, we studied the equation of a circle in Geometry. It seemed eerily similar to the Pythagorean Theorem, which we had learned earlier in the year.
Essentially they are the same, just with different variables plugged in.

Geometry Test 1
I honestly didn't think I would need to write this post, but I just looked at my test grade and I didn't do too well, so here it goes.
What I did to prepare for this first test was complete the study guide. I thought I had it in the bag, but apparently I didn't. I did well on the logic section, though, so it balanced out a bit. What I need to do next time is really review my notes and study no matter how confident I am in the material.

Conditional Statements
I actually loved the conditional statements lesson last week. So here's my go at it.
Original: If Batman's secret identity is revealed. then he won't be Batman anymore.
Inverse (~p-~q): If Batman's secret identity isn't revealed, then he will still be Batman. True
Converse (q-p): If Bruce Wayne isn't Batman anymore, then his secret identity was revealed. False, there are other reasons why he would no longer be Batman.
Contrapositive (~q-~p): If Bruce Wayne is still Batman, then his secret identity wasn't revealed. True.
